Hydration tips for weight loss

Weight Loss Depends on What You Drink! Learn How!

In planning the weight loss process, many people do not consider the importance of fluid intake. However, it is a well-known fact that we are often—when we think we are hungry—actually thirsty. Water makes up over 66% of our organism, so it is clear that water plays a very important role in the weight loss process and should be given great attention.

Therefore, we bring you 9 simple tips on how to contribute to the weight loss process with sufficient and proper fluid intake:

1. Drink a sufficient amount of water

According to the recommendations of doctors and nutritionists, you will often hear the goal of 8 glasses of water to be drunk per day. Although this seems like a very large amount of water to many, knowing that water is not only used to excrete toxins but also contributes to health and a better mood, this will be an additional motivation for you to strive to reach the desired 8 glasses of water a day.

It has been shown to be positive to consume larger amounts of water, due to the recorded less frequent feeling of hunger, and consequently, lower food intake throughout the day.

To reach the desired amount of water, we advise you to always have a water bottle with you. Also, a good way is to buy a 2-liter bottle that you fill in the morning and set yourself the task of drinking it by the end of the day.

2. Start the day with a glass of water

As soon as you wake up in the morning, drink a glass of water first. This way you will wake up faster and also eliminate all the bad aspects of morning dehydration. In addition, after the first glass of water, you will eat less in the very next meal. If you drink coffee after breakfast, drink a glass of water after it, as coffee is known to encourage dehydration, and this water will prevent it. It is also a great practice to start the day with a glass of lemonade mixed with warm water.

3. Drink a glass of water before every meal

Since water contributes to the feeling of satiety, this glass of water will facilitate lower food intake per meal.

4. Drink an additional glass of water during the meal

If you drink water during a meal, you will also eat less and be full faster. In addition, this practice will help reduce the feeling of bloating, which is common after certain foods.

5. Try to eliminate carbonated drinks

Almost all carbonated drinks are rich in sugars, so their complete elimination from the diet is more than desirable. If possible, replace carbonated drinks with water.

6. Limit your intake of fruit juices

Although many people think that fruit juices are healthy (because they are obtained from fruit, right?), the truth is that a huge amount of sugar is hidden in them. If you really want fruit juice, squeeze an orange and a lemon instead of drinking store-bought fruit juices that are full of sugar and artificial colors. However, always prioritize consuming fruit over juice because the fruit provides many fibers that squeezed juice lacks.

7. Consume coffee and tea, but…

If you drink them without milk and sugar, then coffee and green tea are welcome on your daily list of beverages. However, it is often the sugars and other additives to these beverages that are the source of hidden calories. Always drink a glass of water with coffee, as we wrote earlier. And as for green tea, it has so many health benefits (improves the health of the digestive system, reduces the risk of some types of cancer…) that it is welcome at any time of the day and year.

8. If possible, completely eliminate alcohol

Although a glass of wine a day has some benefits, most other alcoholic beverages only result in the intake of unnecessary calories. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot avoid an alcoholic drink, give preference to a dry wine because it has the least sugar.

9. Don’t overdo the coffee

Caffeine has some positive effects on fat burning, but excessive coffee intake cancels out these effects of caffeine. If possible, limit your coffee intake to a maximum of 2 per day in order to continue using all the benefits of caffeine.
